ACT Prep

I have an ACT Prep Google Classroom page where I post links to practice ACT tests and websites that offer online ACT prep.  Email me if you’d like to be added to the class.

ACT Goals & Strategies:  You should always be working towards a higher score on your next ACT test.  Higher ACT scores lead to increased financial aid from TOPS and university scholarships.

ACT Study Guide:  Print or screenshot this study guide below to study before your next ACT.

We will take a practice ACT test in my Algebra II and Advanced Math class about once a month.  These practice ACT tests will count as a test grade for our class with your grade being a reflection of your improvement from your highest Math score to date.  You must improve by 2 correct questions to earn an A, increase by 1 question to earn a B, if your score stays the same you earn a C, if your score decreases you earn a D.  We wil review and correct the entire test in class, and the corrected test becomes a study guide for you to keep.  By the end of the year, you will have a big stack of practice ACT tests to use as study guides for future ACT tests.  The idea is consistently working on small attainable goals over time to ultimately achieve the best ACT score you can.

In addition to the ACT practice tests we do in class, I strongly encourage students to take advantage of ACT prep websites and apps on their own time.  I will often assign some ACT prep work from specific websites.  Links to the ACT Prep websites I use are posted in Google Classroom.  ACT is by far the biggest test students will take in high school and a huge determining factor in college admissions and scholarships.  Students should practice and study as early and as often as they can.  I am more than happy to provide help and answer questions for students in the ACT prep they’re doing independently.

Statistics show that students who begin taking the ACT early achieve higher scores than students who wait until Junior year to begin the ACT.  Achieving a baseline score and identifying weak areas provides students with direction on what to focus on in improving their ACT score over time.  I hope all of my students will take the ACT at least once or twice their Freshman/Sophomore year providing them with a generous time cushion to increase their score.  If you hope to take duel enrollment college courses during your Junior year of high school, you MUST have a 19 Composite ACT Score, 19 Math ACT Score, and 18 English ACT Score.  Sophomores should not wait until the last minute to make sure they have the required scores!
